Going ‘Clean’ With Your Beauty Products
Just when you thought you got the hang of clean eating, now there’s a whole new concept: going ‘clean’ with your beauty products. It’s the same idea - putting foods on your body to make it feel good, instead of inside it. So here are some of our medicine cabinet must haves:
Almond oil is a natural anti-inflammatory that can work wonders on tired, puffy eyes. Pour a few drops in your hand and gently massage dark circles after washing your face at night. In the morning, rinse off with cool water.
Instead of pricey teeth-whitening treatments (and the gross all-white diet that immediately follows) pick up some coconut oil and try your hand at oil pulling. Known for its ability to strengthen and whiten teeth, oil pulling is easy and inexpensive. Just put one tablespoon of coconut oil in your mouth first thing in the morning and swish it around the way you would mouthwash for 20 minutes, then spit out and brush your teeth.
Bitter melon can be like medicine for your hair. Mix it with cumin seeds to treat dandruff, banana or avocado to treat an itchy scalp, or apple cider vinegar to treat oily hair. Combining it with yogurt to make a hair ‘mask’ promotes shiny tresses.
Who needs designer lip gloss when you can have luscious, beautifully colored lips naturally? All it takes is a little beetroot juice at bedtime. Just apply generously each night for gorgeous pink lips.
